The labor of love took place on 4/4/22, the full 7-round annual Buddy Mock. I love doing this, going back to 2005. I treat each team like my own with current depth charts, contracts due up in the next couple of years for developmental picks, and most importantly system fits.
1-21)Chris Olave (WR) Ohio State
The system is a tough one to learn with a lot of nuances along the way. Olave is known as a high IQ player, smooth route runner, and able to play multiple roles. I feel a lot of changes in this position before the Patriots open camp in late July.
2-54)Roger McCreary (CB) Auburn
Once considered a first-round pick until the combine 40-yard dash happens. He’s a physical man corner, who took on tough SEC WR each week with pretty positive results.
3-85)Troy Andersen (LB) Montana St
Here is the put me wherever player that Belichick covets. Inside/out, cover in zone/man, rush the passer, and even Wildcat QB. He gives the Patriots much-needed versatility at the LB position.
4-127)Josh Jobe (CB) Alabama
The double-dip at a position needs some refreshing. Physical, man CB like McCreary who just in practice alone faces high-level WR.
5-158)Dare Rosenthal (OL) Kentucky
SEC product who could use a season with the Foxboro flu or as an inactive. In his development, I’m looking at the 2023 Starter at either Tackle position when Wynn is a free agent. He provides toughness and good athleticism on the end of the line.
5-170)Thomas Booker (IDL) Stanford
Versatile and smart DL prospect. It’s no secret teams ran on the Patriots last season and finding a prospect who can be a solid part of the rotation is a must. This is another position that’ll have turnover before Week #1.
6-200)Vederian Lowe (OL) Illinois
An experienced and versatile player who really played well under Brett Bielema at Illinois. He’s a player who can provide versatility and is ascending with his talent coming into the NFL. A huge need on gameday is a player who can fill multiple positions along the offensive line.
6-210)Stanley Berryhill III (WR) Arizona
Slot WR, who is flying under the radar but just fits the bill. Great feet, good 3-cone ability who can win off the line with these skills to be provide YAC for a team that needs it.
Agree or disagree, I’m always up for debate @E2Gfounder.
