The Broncos announced yesterday their head coaching search was over. They have agreed to terms with Packers Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. The 42 year old former OC will be the 18th head coach in Denver’s history.

But we all know what’s happening here.

While Hackett has an impressive resume, this move was made to lure Aaron Rogers to Denver. Rodgers, who is now debated to be with Peyton Manning (See the Pattern) as the best regular season quarterback in NFL history, reworked his contract  before the start of the 2021 season – in the words of Adam Schefter that gave him “The Freedom to decide where he wants to play in 2022” – is set to be wooed by the masses. Yes, this is the bed the Broncos intend to make and sleep in.

Why anyone would want the “As The Aaron Turns” soap opera as the face of their organization is beyond me. The old dating “Batshit Crazy as to Hotness” scale comes to mind for some reason when thinking on this potential move on the part of any NFL team inking the sometimes MVP and one time Superbowl winning quarterback. Along with the old saying be careful what you wish for – You just might get it.

I’s Dotted and T’s Crossed

The Broncos also interviewed Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo,Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Packers quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy, Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

But Hackett and Rodgers have always been the end game.
