On the 4th of July, in the Nation’s capital, Dodgers right-hander Trevor Bauer is set to make his scheduled start. This would not normally be news, however, the Dodgers Star faces Sexual Assault allegations.
Following a TMZ report that police in California are investigating Dodgers star Trevor Bauer for an assault on a woman, Bauer's attorney, Jon Fetterolf, released a statement in which he denied the allegations. Bauer has been accused by a woman of choking her until she lost consciousness, punching her in several areas of her body, and leaving her with injuries that required hospitalization over the course of TWO sexual encounters earlier this year. According to a domestic violence restraining order that was filed this week in LA Superior court. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was questioned by reporters on the allegations his pitcher is facing and Bauers’ taking the hill and had this to say:
“As of now, we’re kind of in the middle of letting the commissioner’s office, Major League Baseball, handle this,” Roberts said from D.C. on Thursday, adding that Bauer is with the team and was getting ready to play at Nationals Park. “It’s in their hands right now, and right now, our direction was to just move forward and not do anything as far as the player or Trevor, so our plan is he is gonna start on Sunday.”
The restraining order was issued by the court, Bauer’s representatives issued the following statement. denying the allegations.
“The encounters were wholly consensual.”
On Tuesday Bauers representatives released these text messages between the two trying to back up their version of the events. That the woman invited a rough sexual encounter with the accused.

“Gimmie all the Pain” and “Choke me out.”
Dodgers, Bauer carry on as usual
So as it stands at this moment with no arrest, Bauer is set to take the hill on the nation’s birthday and the Dodgers seem either fine with that or have handcuffed themselves by the league’s CBA with the MLBPA. The Dodgers are set to visit the White House to celebrate their 2020 World Series championship this weekend while in D.C.
Bauer is in the first year of a three-year, $102 million dollar free agent contract he signed in February with LA. Is this affecting Dave Roberts’ decision to sit him and avoid some of the fireworks that are sure to come on the fourth? According to Dave – No.
“I’m in the position of following the lead of Major League Baseball. Their recommendation was for us to use our scheduled Sunday starter and to move forward and have him start that game on Sunday. For me to try to read into it any more outside of just following what they had advised me and us to do. I just choose to follow kind of their lead.”
