RESULTS

AEW Dynamite

Road Rager 2022

6/15/22

Chris Jericho (w/ Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager & Matt Menard) defeated Ortiz (w/ Eddie Kingston) in a “Hair vs. Hair” match

Wardlow defeated Plaintiffs  in a “Twenty On One Handicap Elimination” match

Will Ospreay defeated Dax Harwood

Miro defeated Ethan Page (w/ Dan Lambert) in an “AEW All-Atlantic Title Qualifying” match

Toni Storm defeated Dr. Britt Baker DMD (w/ Jamie Hayter & Rebel)

The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) defeated AEW World Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) (w/ Christian Cage) in a, “Ladder” match to become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions.

It’s great to see The Young Bucks ruling the tag team scene again. Hopefully, this will lead to a Young Bucks-Hardys rematch after Jeff Hardy gets healthy again and eventually returns to action.

After this match, Christian turned heel on Jungle Boy. AEW had made it clear a while ago that this was going to happen, but I think that Jungle Boy should have been the one to turn heel. It would have caught most fans by surprise, and it would have added to his character development- while we have seen Christian as a heel in WWE, Jungle Boy as a heel would be something new for AEW fans.

Also, in a very interesting segment, Chris Jericho announced that Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti are now members of his Jericho Appreciation Society, Lance Archer and NJPW star Desperado helped JAS in an attack on Hiroshi Tanahashi and Jon Moxley, and Jericho also announced that NJPW star Minoru Suzuki will be teaming with Jericho and Guevara at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door to face Wheeler Yuta, NJPW star Shota Umino, and Eddie Kingston.

This should be a very good Forbidden Door match, and it’s also good to see Desperado finally be utilized by AEW during the promotion’s ongoing relationship with NJPW, as well as Lance Archer being associated with Suzuki-gun again, a faction that Archer has seen much success with during his times in Japan wrestling for NJPW (IWGP Tag Team Championship & NWA World Tag Team Championship) and NOAH (GHC Tag Team Championship). As for Sammy Guevera and Tay Conti, Guevera is better off being associated with Jericho than being on his own (for now) due to Jericho’s drawing power, and with Conti a member of the Jericho Appreciation Society, the faction now has a member who can represent them in the AEW’s women’s division.

MORE AEW

Mike Chioda was recently interviewed regarding his appearances in AEW. Referees have a very important role during a pro-wrestling match, as they communicate and interact with the wrestlers to ensure that the match flows correctly, and checking on them if they appear to be injured. AEW has good referees, but the more experienced a referee is, the better. He has over 30 years of experience as a referee, and while Chioda’s current relationship with AEW is, as he describes, “Part-time there, part-time here,” Chioda would be a great asset to AEW as a full-time referee.
