• The Boston Celtics suffer a heartbreaking loss after giving up a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter to the Milwaukee Bucks’. The Bucks now have the series 3-2 after the 110-107 comeback win. Giannis Antetokounmpo puts up a huge 40 points and 11 rebounds. Jrue Holiday was fantastic support with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.  Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 34 points and Jaylen Brown had 26 in Boston’s losing effort. The series goes back to Milwaukee on Friday for a do-or-die Game 6 for the Celtics.


  • Memphis Grizzlies rolled over the Golden State Warriors 134-95 on Wednesday night. They avoided elimination and force a Game 6 in the semifinals. Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones each scored 21 points. The Grizzlies never trailed, they scored 77 points in the 1st half, the most in franchise postseason history. Klay Thompson led Golden State with 19 points. Game 6 is Friday night in San Francisco, where the Warriors have won 5 straight playoff games.

  • The New York Rangers fight back to avoid elimination and get the Game 5 win over the Pittsburg Penguins 5-3. Jacob Trouba, Alexis Lafrenière, Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren all scored a goal a piece for the Rangers and Filip Chytil scored the tiebreaking goal early in the 3rd period. Jake Guentzel had 2 goals and Kris Letang also scored for Pittsburgh, which leads the series 3-2. Game 6 is Friday in Pittsburg.


  • Carter Verhaeghe set a Panthers franchise playoff record with a 5-point night — 2 goals, 3 assists and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30 shots. Florida erased a 3-0 deficit to beat the Washington Capitals 5-3 on Wednesday night, taking a 3-2 lead in the first-round series. T.J. Oshie scored 2 goals for Washington, which also got a goal from Justin Schultz and 2 assists from Evgeny Kuznetsov, Ilya Samsonov stopped 33 shots. Game 6 is Friday night in Washington.


  • Mikael Backlund, Andrew Mangiapane and Trevor Lewis all scored a goal in the 3rd period, leading the Calgary Flames to a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night to take a 3-2 lead in their first-round playoff series. Jacob Markstrom made 20 saves for the Flames who have the opportunity to finish off the series Saturday night in Dallas. Jason Robertson scored the solo goal for Dallas, and Jake Oettinger stopped 29 shots.

  • Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is the first player to hit for the cycle this season. Yelich completed it with a triple in the 9th inning of Wednesday’s 14-11 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. He hit a double in the first, homered in the third, and singled in the fifth. The 30-year-old has completed 3 career cycles – all against Cincinnati.


  • Wednesday’s game between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox was postponed due to multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the Guardians organization, the White Sox announced.  Cleveland would have been short coaches if the team tried to play Wednesday.


  • Orlando Arcia hit a 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Atlanta Braves a 5-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. Arcia hit his first homer of the season over the left-field wall off Ryan Brasier with 1 out in the 9th inning for his 3rd hit of the game. The home run drove in Ozzie Albies.
