The New England Patriots are sending the 2022 seventh-round pick they acquired from the Raiders in the Tent Brown trade to the Kansas City Chiefs for OT/G Yasir Durant. Durant signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Missouri, following the 2020 NFL draft. He played left tackle for Mizzou, but the Chiefs have most recently been playing the UDFA at guard.
Durant spent the entire 2020 NFL season on the Chiefs’ 53-man roster. He was active for 11 games but appeared in just two for Kansas City. Yasir flew up the depth chart at right tackle in Week 14 when KC took on the Miami Dolphins as injuries began to hit the Chiefs’ offensive line. In total he played 92 snaps, allowing a sack and 4 pressures, most coming in his appearance at right tackle.. He also spent time at the right guard.
This move is probably the death-nail for Pats swing tackle Korey Cunningham. who the Patriots acquired in 2019 for a sixth-round pick.
The addition of OT/G Yasir Durant seems like an ominous sign for Korey Cunningham’s chances to stick.

The Patriots obviously liked what they saw in Durant enough to send a draft pick west to KC to make sure they got a closer look at the young 6’7 330 lb. behemoth not wanting to chance him being waived and picked up by another team. Whether they end up stashing him on the depth chart or letting him go it’s a low-risk move on a draft pick not likely to make the team next season anyway.
