  • The Indianapolis Colts and guard Quenton Nelson have agreed to a contract extension. It is a huge 4-year deal worth $80 million, $60 million of that is guaranteed. This contract makes Nelson the highest paid guard in NFL history.

 

  • The Las Vegas Raiders will sign tight end Darren Waller to a 3-year contract extension worth $51 million. The deal will keep Waller in Las Vegas through the 2026 season.

 

  • San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle will not be playing in Sunday’s opener against the Chicago Bears. Kittle suffered a groin injury during Mondays practice, his status is said to be day-to-day as of Saturday.

 

  • Baltimore Ravens tackle Ronnie Stanley will not play in Sunday’s season opener against the New York Jets. Stanley will not even make the trip to New York with the team. He only played in one game last season due to ankle issues that he still seems to be making his back from.

 

  • The New York Jets have placed 37-year-old left tackle Duane Brown on the IR, which means he will miss a minimum of 4 games.  Brown was injured during practice on Monday but the team has yet to disclose the nature of the injury.

  • St. Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols moved himself into a tie for 4th place with A-Rod on baseballs all-time list after smashing his 696th homerun.

 

  • Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 8-4 on Saturday night, moving themselves to just 4 wins away from clinching the NL West. Freddie Freeman pushed in 4 runs on his 4 hits, one of those was a two-run shot over the wall,  Trea Turner hit the go-ahead, 3-run double to lock it in for Los Angeles. The Dodgers, who sit at an MLB-best of 95-43, can clinch a postseason spot for their 10th straight season with a win Sunday or if Milwaukee loses. This will be their 9th division title in 10 seasons.

 

  • George Kirby pitched into the 7th inning holding, on fire, Atlanta Braves to just 1 run and ending their 8 game win streak. Sam Haggerty and Eugenio Suárez each hit a solo homerun helping lift the Seattle Mariners 3-1 over the Braves on Saturday. Kirby saying after the game :

“You can’t be scared. You have to be confident, just do what you keep doing. I didn’t want to change anything today. I just wanted to attack them.”
