• The Boston Celtics and forward Danilo Gallinari have agreed to a 2-year, $13.3-million deal. The 33-year-old became a free agent after clearing waivers with the San Antonio Spurs.  Gallinari’s contract with Boston is fully guaranteed and does contain a player option in the 2nd year.


  • Utah Jazz General Manager, Justin Zanik said  about trade rumors involving Donovan Mitchell :

“Change is inevitable in the NBA. I’m not trying to be cryptic or anything else, but Donovan is on our roster and he’s a very, very important part of what we’re trying to do. Things evolve in the NBA, so I couldn’t sit here and say anybody is untouchable. We’re trying to build a championship team, but there’s no intent there to trade Mitchell, at all.”


  • Portland Trail Blazers lottery pick Shaedon Sharpe will miss the rest of Las Vegas Summer League because of a small labral tear in his left shoulder. The injury happened during the team’s summer league game on Thursday against the Detroit Pistons. Sharpe played 6 minutes, scoring a 1 basket. He will be re-evaluated in 10 o 14 days.




  • The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators are in serious discussions about a trade for goaltender Matt Murray.  Murray still has 2 years left on his contract with a $6.25-million cap hit.


  • Goaltender Alexander Georgiev and the Colorado Avalanche have signed a 3-year contract extension. His deal holds an average annual value of $3.4 million. Georgiev was a pending restricted free agent.


  • Filip Forsberg will be hanging out in Nashville for a longtime to come it appears. The Predators agreed to contract terms with the star winger on an 8-year deal. The deal reportedly holds an average annual value of $8.5 million. Forsberg was a pending unrestricted free agent who would have been one of the best out there had he tested the waters.




  • One night after an extra innings rally to pull off the win the Boston Red Sox score 9 unanswered runs against the New York Yankees. Pulling off the second win in the series 11-6 after dropping games 1 and 2 to 1st place New York. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts said :

“I don’t think anyone would have bet that we would have split it after the first two. You’re definitely lying if you say that.”


  • Mike Moustakas, Tyler Stephenson and Jonathan India all hit a 2-run homeruns in the 3rd inning to lift the Cincinnati Reds over the Tampa Bay Rays 10-5 on Sunday, completing the 3-game series sweep.


  •  Atlanta Braves DH William Contreras has joined Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras as only the 5th pair of brothers to start in an All-Star game together. Contreras was voted in Sunday as a reserve by fellow players but has been selected to start because Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper, who was elected by fans, broke his left thumb on June 25 and remains unable to play. They will be the first brothers in the same All-Star Game since Aaron and Bret Boone in 2003.
